On the Farm

This week we headed up to LaPorte to visit my friend Kim and her 3 girls. They recently moved to her husband's family farm so he could help his dad with it and pursue his dream of farming. Kim's girls, of course, were really comfortable with all the animals because they're used to it. My girls, on the other hand, were very scared of the horses and cows. I think because they were so big up close and a little scary. Ava did, however, attach to one of the farm kittens that she and Anna brought into the house to play with. Here are some pics from our trip.

They have lots of dairy cows and recently purchased a working dairy down the road from their house. We went to watch the cows get milked and even saw 8 baby cows that were just days old. It was really interesting but my girls were even scared of the baby cows! Who knew!?

Some of the cows getting milked....they get milked 3 times a day and can produce up to 15 gallons of milk per cow.....wow!!!
